Apples & Books, Bugs & Sticks began as ABC Daycare Center in September of 1989, at the home of Bianca Labye. Ms. Labye’s original intent was to open a large daycare at a Hillsborough location, but due to strict zoning regulations that never happened. ABC Daycare Center flourished for over 5 years. In its beautiful country surroundings and the "home-like" atmosphere, the center provided valuable learning experiences for the children. Cooking, nutrition, nature, science and literature were popular favorites among the children. But the dream of opening a larger center to serve the community never died. That dream became a reality in February of 1995. Apples & Books, Bugs & Sticks opened with just 10 children and a group of loving and dedicated staff members. After 5 years, ABBS has over 100 children enrolled in 2 facilities, with an equally dedicated staff of about 50 people. The children at both locations still enjoy cooking, nutrition, nature, science and literature in a "home-like" atmosphere.
